Larry Nuzum
Larry Nuzum has been an integral part of Chancey Architecture since doors opened in 1989. He became a Partner in 2004 after serving as VP and Senior Project Manager from 1989 to 2004. As the Partner-in-Charge for Senior Housing, Mixed-use Commercial, Multi-Family projects, and Health Care projects, Larry brings a wealth of expertise and experience to the firm.
His areas of expertise include senior housing (ALF, ILF, SNF, and Memory Care), mixed-use commercial projects, hospitality (restaurants), multi-family apartments and condominiums, project due diligence and master planning, industrial warehouses, retail tenant improvements, commercial renovations, and historic rehabilitation/restorations. Larry's extensive knowledge in accessibility standards (ADA, FFHA, UFAS) and his role as an accessibility specialist highlight his commitment to quality and inclusivity.
Larry has completed numerous training programs and courses, including the LEED Training Program at UF, the University of Wisconsin Education Program for Quality Control Management, and various code access courses. He is also a member of the National Fire Protection Association and has received education in indoor air quality from Dupont.
Throughout his career, Larry has worked on projects across the United States, including in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Texas, South Carolina, North Carolina, Colorado, Idaho, Arkansas, Washington DC, New York, Kansas, and the Bahamas. His notable skills include code compliance, specification writing, construction forensics and defect mitigation, AHCA experience in health care, Veterans Affairs guidelines, historic rehabilitation and restoration projects, and HUD projects.
Larry has been recognized for his work with several prestigious awards, including the 2006 Best in American Living Awards by the National Home Builders Association (Gold Award), the 2002 Jan Abell Historic Preservation/Restoration Award (First Place), the 2002 Aurora Award by the Florida Home Builders Association (First Place in Remodeling, Rehabilitation & Restoration), the 2001 Silver Achievement Award by Home Builders Senior Housing Council (Best of Senior Housing Renovation), and the 1991 Renovation of the Year Award by Metal Architecture.
A Florida native, Larry has been married for 38 years and has 45 years of experience as a project manager. He has been a Managing Partner at Chancey Design for 20 years, leading the firm with dedication and expertise.
